8. Changing table organizer idea

Here is a simple solution for keeping all your changing/grooming items neat and within reach of your one free hand.  Keep a tiered basket (which normally is used in the kitchen for fruits, potatoes and onions) near the changing table for convenient and organized access to everything you use.

7. Ergo Baby Carrier

Ergobaby Original Baby Carriers

If you aren't going the baby-wearing route (see moby wrap), then the best backpack style baby carrier seems to be the Ergo brand baby carrier.

It can be worn in the front, back or hip position, and supports babies up to 45 lbs., and infants 7-12 lbs. with the use of the Infant Insert

This carrier is designed for comfort and distributes your baby's weight evenly across your hips and shoulders so you can enjoy being close to your baby while having your hands free. Babies love to hear the sound of your heartbeat and feel your warmth. These carriers hold and cradle your baby just the way you do, with your baby’s legs properly supported in a natural sitting position.

6. Muslin Swaddlers

star bright swaddle

These are particularly good for swaddling baby in the very first weeks of life.  They have just enough stretch, yet are breathable and light.  They are also helpful as a breastfeeding drape, a light cover on a hot day or for little messes along the way.  The aden+anais brand is especially good for some reason, but also run a little more expensive.

3. Moby baby wearing wrap

This brand is particularly nice because it is made of a nice breathable fabric that doesn't stretch out with time.  Another advantage is that the weight is distributed well over the shoulders which helps fight back/shoulder fatigue.  There are several ways you can wear the baby and the wraps come in a wide variety of colors and patterns.  The downfall is that they are expensive (ranging from $50-$60 USD) so for any of you who are a bit crafty, you might try making one for yourselves or friends with similar material.

Here are the measurements I found online:

16 ft long
21 inches wide at widest
4" at the very narrowest end (the ends are tapered gradually and the ends are rounded).
The material is 95% cotton and 5% spandex.

You also might want to visit the Moby wrap website to see terrific instructional videos on how to tie it properly in different configurations.

2. Bumbo

This helps the child to sit up securely before it is able to sit up on its own.  Parents love this because they don't have to worry about their child falling backward and hitting their head on the tile floor. Great for setting the child in (on the floor) while cooking or doing some other chores.
